Last night (1 August 2012) I was kindly invited to the launch of The Pop Spot app at the start of The Pop Spot Summer Festival at Jimmy’s Supper Club, which was being held at Annex East in Stratford (home of the Summer Olympic Games).
While there, I had my first experience of up-and-coming Jimmy Garcia’s Jimmy’s Supper Club. Jimmy sources local ingredients, where he can, to create a Best of British feel to his menus. Right now Jimmy is serving up Olympic themed dishes, named and inspired by the previous hosts of The Games: Beijing ’08, Athens ’04, Sydney ’00 etc. At last night’s event canapes were the order of the night, the gorgeous little tasters we tried included:
Mushroom brioche, with a carrot & beetroot salad
Quails egg with asparagus & basil, in a crunchy tart
Smoked duck with a savory muffin and cranberries
Feta cheese and mixed tomatoes on crispy brown bread
The mini dishes were just little bites of heaven – I could of eaten the quails egg tart all night! I will definitely try to pop back to Annex East before Jimmy is off somewhere else – this is a pop up not to be missed.
