My favourite restaurants
The Cowherds, gastro-pub, Southampton Common
The Cowherds is THE BEST country pub (without being in the countryside), it was just down the road from Andrew’s old flat so it was perfect for lazy Sunday afternoons settling into a bottle of red wine and a roast dinner, and a dessert, and a cheese board…
Mango, Thai tapas bar, Portswood
Mango has got to be my favourite restaurant in Southampton. It’s just round the corner from my old flat, so when I was living there it was like a second home! They do a fantastic lunch time deal, which I’ve always intended to eat… but as soon as I walk in I can’t help but order everything!
- Halladay’s, café and tea rooms, Bedford Place
- Coriander Lounge, Indian restaurant, Southampton
- Pulcinella, Neapolitan restaurant, Bedford Place
alec’s, restaurant and bar, Essex
As a distinct non-lover of fish, you can imagine that visiting Alec Smith’s latest fish restaurant was so going to be my ideal of the spend a lunch time… However, my mother-in-law knows this and made sure that they served meat. Much to my delight, and mega food-lust, the ‘meat’ menu was really a steak menu a.k.a Holly’s ultimate lunch. The huge sirloin I went for was succulent and pink, very juicy with a strong chargrilled taste – no sauce – it didn’t need it. Simply stunning.
- Braza, Brazilian Churrascaria Rodizio, Romford
Madisons is a classic American restaurant tucked away in suburban Bromley. It’s the perfect place to get a meat-fix after watching Man V. Food! From beautiful burgers, to mouth watering chargrilled fajitas, I’m can’t get enough of Madisons.
Topes is a European restaurant which blends seamlessly into Rochester’s mix of modern & traditional tastes, with a Sunday lunch menu which caters to this niche perfectly. Go to Topes for fantastic salads and unusual sides which (almost) upstage the mains!
- Don Vincenzo, Italian restaurant, Rochester
- Buenos Aires Restaurant, Argentinian steak house, Maidstone
- Aqua, Mediterranean restaurant, Bromley
Coq d’Argent is a classic French restaurant in the centre of The City, with the finest food, wine and service, and a view to lust after in the gorgeous rooftop garden.
Another of my favourite French eateries, this time of the more affordable-variety. Cafe Des Amis is the ultimate hideaway, located in Covent Garden you would never know this quiet restaurant serving scrumptious dinners was just off the busy tourist hotspot – it would do any true Londoner proud.
- Bodeans, American BBQ, Tower Hill
- Raizes Rodizio, Brazilian buffet, Bethnal Green
